REPORT ON N.C.B.C 65TH FOUNDERS’ DAY CELEBRATION AND LAUNCHING OF SKILLS ACQUISITION AND VOCATIONAL TRAINING CENTRE
The Nigerian Christian Bible College, Ukpom Abak celebrated her 65th Founders’ day on Saturday 3rd February 2018 and also used the occasion to raise funds for her skills Acquisition and Vocational training centre. The celebration was jointly chaired by Obong J.J. Akpan, a retired auditor in Akwa Ibom State civil service and Dr Joshua Esang, an illustrious son of Ukpom based in Los Angeles California, USA. Dr. Chad Wagner, the president of African Christian Schools Foundation, Nashville Tennessee was our special guest of honour. Prince Ifiok Inuenekpo represented the Deputy Governor Mr. Moses Ekpo while Mr. Edet Williams represented RT. Hon. Ekomabasi Akpan, the Executive Chairman of Ibiono Ibom L.G.A.
Professor Anietie Moses of the Department of Micro Biology University of Uyo, Teaching Hospital delivered the key note lecture on Christian Education, prospects and challenges. Welcoming the mammoth crowd, the president of the college Mr. Goodnews Peter highlighted the achievements of the college for the past sixty five years to include full accreditation of N.C.B.C by the national university commission NUC to run BA & BAED, Religious Education, increased in students population, training and equipping more than 5,000 preachers and send them out to various congregations for Christian service.
The new president of African Christian schools Foundation Dr Chad Wagner unfolded his plans for N.C.B.C and reported what he has done so far to include, increased of salaries to N.C.B.C staff, acquisition of a new powerul generator, employment of additional staff, purchase of some computers, he promised to do more in areas of renovations of rundown buildings, skill acquisitions and expansions of academic programmes of the college.
Goodwill messages were received from the chairman N.C.B.C Board of Governors, Dr Umanaette S. Udoh, Ukpom Traditional Rulers Council, Ukpom Development Union, N.C.B.C, Alumni, Congregations and Well wishers. High point of the celebration was the cutting of the 65th Anniversary Cake by the president of ACSF Bro. Chad Wagner. The N.C.B.C choral group and Abak song leaders forum sang melodious songs and added colour to the occasion.
The celebration was well attended as participants from congregations in five geopolitical states of the federation such as Abia, Cross River, Imo and Akwa Ibom States came in large numbers to grace the occasion.
Donations were received from individuals and congregations to support the skills Acquisition and vocational training of the college. A total donation of N736,820 was raised. Cash N386,820 and N350,000 were promissory notes. A list of donors and donations will be published in January – March N.C.B.C news letter.
