REPORT ON 2018 NCBC PREACHERS’ CHURCH LEADERS/WORKERS SEMINAR
Nigerian Christian Bible College Ukpom, Abak Akwa Ibom State conducted her 65th Preachers, Church leaders and workers seminar from Tuesday, May 15 – Friday May 18, 2018.
Visionary Leadership, prospects and challenges was the center stage or theme. The seminar drew participants from eight geo-political states of the federation such as; Abuja (FCT), Taraba, Lagos, Oyo, Rivers, Cross River, Abia, Imo and Akwa Ibom States. Records from registration unit, two hundred preachers and church leaders were in attendance while one hundred and five participants paid their registration fees of three thousand naira ($8.50) each which qualified them to receive their tags, lecture materials, accommodation and meals.
Brother Goodnews Peter, the CEO/President of N.C.B.C presented an address of welcome to the participants. In his address, he commended the audience for their financial commitments and the stress of traveling away from their families and loved ones to attend this week-long event. He solicited for increased partnership from the alumni, individuals and congregations to sponsor the college either on a monthly, quarterly or yearly basis.
The Executive Chairman of Ibiono Ibom Local Government Council Rt. Hon. Ekom Abasi Akpan attended the Seminar for two days and redeemed his pledge of N 50,00.00 ($143) to the college which he pledged during the February 2018 Founders’ Day Celebration.
The N.C.B.C. choral group sang melodiously to welcome the participants. All the resource persons came and presented excellently the topics that were assigned to them. Fourteen keynotes were discussed at the seminar.
1. Samuel Okon spoke on what is Visionary Leadership.
2. Edet E. William spoke on the challenges and prospects of Attitudes towards Evangelism.
3. The Challenge of Time Management by Emmanuel O. Essien.
4. The Challenge of Financial planning by Sunday Elijah.
5. The challenge of Church growth by Egane Roland.
6. The challenge of Self control by M. J. Akpakpan
7. Discovering Ministries and Talents in the Church by Mfonobong Brendan.
8. Proper Communication and sound doctrine by Goodnews Peter.
9. Delegating Authority and work by Uyai Joshua.
10. Becoming an instrument of peace in 2018 by Dr. Umanaette S. Udoh, the Board Chairman of NCBC.
11. Moving the Church forward by Okpan Cleopas
12. Physical work in the Church by Etim Nyong
13. Servant Leadership by Prof. T. J. Akpakpan
The president Goodnews Peter and Uyai Joshua held meeting with the NCBC Alimni numbering one hundred in attendance on Thursdaynight of May 17. The meeting disclosed many good ideas to move the College to greater heights such as fund raising dinner before the August Lectureship and the planting of vegetables on the campus.
The seminar was climaxed with the presentation of certificates of attendance to all the participants by the CEO/President assisted by Mr. Samuel Okon Director of Ministerial programme.
It is with mentioning that Babatunde Akpata, associate minister of Kado Garki, Abuja congregation and other prominent ministers such as Okpan Cleopas, Mfon Brendan from Calabar and Lagos congregations grace the seminar. Christian ladies also attended in large numbers.
We are grateful to the President of ACSF, Chad Wagner for his generous support for the hosting of this year’s preachers’ seminar. The seminar was very successful because of the earlier financial assistance he gave for preparations.
